Tournament season is here and StingRay brings you two of the hottest tournaments of the season:

JUNE 4TH: The First Annual Lighthouse Ladies KDW Tournament:

A tournament for ladies of all ages, 100% of net proceeds go to benefit the

Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches. A great organization helping

the blind and visually impaired maintain a self-sufficient life. Over $ 7,000 in

cash and prizes will be awarded to the tournament's winners.

Tournament activities start Friday  June 3rd with an Anglers and Captains meeting.

Lines in at 8 AM on Saturday with weight in between 1 PM and 4 PM.

Festivities follow with a party and dinner at the new  Wylders at

Jupiter Pointe Marina. This is the Ladies Tournament

of the season and one you do not want to miss.

JUNE 18TH: Join us for the third annual WIRK/The BUZZ Fishing Tournament and

Seafood Festival, co-sponsored by StingRay Fishing Outfitters.

This event is open to boats of all sizes and features cash prizes for first, second and

third place in categories of  Kingfish, Dolphin and Wahoo. There is also cash prizes

for the largest grouper and largest snapper. With  $15,000 total in cash and prizes,

this is without a doubt the biggest event of the Summer featuring a marine

market, food vendors, and live music.

Hello Friends and Anglers!

Winter fishing for The Reel Candy team was very busy, fishing from Sailfish Marina in Stuart, and San Salvador Bahamas. The wahoo bite was exceptional this year. All the Guests of Stingray Tackle"s Big Game Fishing School caught wahoo over 50 pounds with some almost touching the triple digit mark. Most attendees have already rebooked for the 2012 Monster Wahoo Season.

We just concluded an Invitational Marlin Tournament that began in the Aklins, Crooked Island, Samana Cay, and back to San Salvador. Congratulations to Game On for their 1st place finish. You can guess who was 2nd.

The Reel Candy team ended our week Sunday till Friday going 4 for 6 on blue marlin, 7 yellowfins, with 2 over 60 pounds, and 7 mahi over 20.

We left San Sal yesterday and ended up at Hawks Nest on Cat Island. Looks like a good marlin bite here.  We also heard that Rum had a real good bite Friday. Yellowbird and Weekly Sails, both saw multiple blues.

We are leaving here Wednesday and heading for Marsh Harbour. We are open Memorial Day Weekend and have a couple of dates left in June for fishing the Abacos. We will also be happy to help with accommodations. The Reel Candy will be leaving Marsh around July 1st and looking for a marllin bite in San Sal or Rum. If you are interested in any of these locations, book early.

San Salvador Fishing by Capt Marvin

As we prepare for the May issue of Coastal Angler we are extremely excited about the upcoming weeks. Roffler’s Fishing Forecasting recently sent their predictions for “Billfishing the Bahamas” in preparation for the Bahamas Billfish Championship. They indicate the blue water necessary for blue marlin is prevalent in the lower Bahamas, and all indications are the conditions are extremely good for an active blue marlin season. The water here is absolutely beautiful.  Although we are currently between seasons, we are finding a mixed bag of fish. A few white marlin have been caught in the past 2 weeks. Jack Tullius on the Black Bart Bertram, released a white as a Club Med angler fishing on the Hadenuff also released a white marlin.

Larry Twiner fishing on the Ms T, released a sail this week. We did see a blue marlin, along with another sail. The Hadeneuff guys pulled the hooks on a nice blue about 300 pounds. The wahoo are still in the area. Allen Seidel fishing on the Ms T, caught a respectable wahoo, Saturday. The yellowfin tuna can been found on the north humps or the southeast corner both morning and late evenings. Most of these are averaging 30 to 50 pounds. Bottom fishing has been good with a mixed bag of Black and red snapper being caught in 200 to 400 feet. 

Just after April’s full moon we expect the blue marlin bite to provide some excitement to waiting anglers. The marina here at the Riding Rock is starting to fill up with some well known boats. If you are anticipating a vacation to San Salvador in the upcoming months you may contact the Riding Rock Inn and Marina, or the Sands Resort. Both are within walking distance to the marina and have ocean view rooms. They can also assist with awesome diving excursions throughout the island.
